Project Overview 

The client’s technical services landscape supports numerous client-facing and internal systems critical to telecom operations. VIVA was tasked with installing, configuring, and maintaining test environments to validate software, data integration, and reporting solutions before production deployment. 

Scope of Work: 

  • Provisioning and managing multiple QA environments aligned with evolving technology needs. 
  • Supporting cross-functional teams with test bed setups for business intelligence, reporting, and data integration workflows. 
  • Troubleshooting and resolving environment, platform, and data issues to minimize downtime and ensure business continuity. 

VIVA’s multi-disciplinary approach strengthened environment management and supported the client’s broader digital transformation goals. 

Technologies and Tools Employed 

1. Business Intelligence and Analytics 

  • Cognos Suite: ReportNet, PowerPlay, Impromptu, Transformer, IWR, Upfront, PowerPrompt, and Access Manager. Supported upgrades, migrations, and custom dashboards. 
  • Business Objects: BOE Universe Design, WEBIntelligence, OLAP Intelligence, Crystal Reports, Crystal Xcelsius, and Scorecards for efficient reporting and dashboards. 
  • Hyperion: Versions 9.2 and System 9 BI, upgraded legacy Brio reports, integrated with older 6.x and 8.5 environments, and supported Brio Enterprise Suite. 
  • MicroStrategy: Versions 7 and 8 for scalable telecom analytics. 

2. Data Integration and ETL 

  • IBM WebSphere DataStage for high-volume integration. 
  • Informatica ETL and Ab Initio for advanced pipelines and transformations. 

3. Database Management 

  • Oracle as a primary data repository for CRM and transaction analytics. 
  • Microsoft SQL Server (SSAS, SSRS, SSIS) for analytics, reporting, and integration. 
  • Teradata and SQL Assistant for big data, billing, and performance analytics. 

4. Legacy and Visualization Tools 

  • Attachmate Extra Enterprise 2000 for mainframe access. 
  • ERWIN and Microsoft Visio for data modeling and workflow design.

  • BI and Reporting Platform Upgrades: Supported migrations for Cognos, Business Objects, Hyperion, and MicroStrategy with minimal disruption. 
  • ETL Workflow Management: Architected and troubleshooted ETL pipelines with DataStage, Informatica, and Ab Initio. 
  • Database Administrative Support: Provided tuning, backup, and troubleshooting for Oracle, SQL Server, and Teradata databases. 
  • Legacy System Integration: Maintained connections to older databases and systems, ensuring analytics continuity. 
  • Data Modeling and Documentation: Utilized ERWIN and Visio for documenting and optimizing data flows.
